Thought people here might be interested reading this article from BBC about the EU-Commission threatening Microsoft to pay a daily fine of $2.4mil. in order to give rival companies better access to crucial parts of their software.

so theyre being fined for not sharing their source code? what do you mean by not letting other companies have access? im on dial up so i really dont wanna click on the article =x
if its what i think, its bullshit. i hate how the goverment punishes a company for doing a good job. they dominate because they are good. if a company makes a better product then people will use it. instead of everyone crying about microsofts lead in the market maybe they should worry about making a software app thats actually BETTer than microsoft and the problem would solve itself.

sorry but sometimes i actually feel bad for microsoft

i reckon microsoft should pull out of the eu. They have that avenue of hosted services internionally. Thats why microsoft live will be awesome when it finally works.

Governments are more and more stepping over the lines of serving the public vs dictating economics. This in not there grounds to fight! This is pure and simple bussiness competition.

Im not a avid user of microsoft, more macromedia and linux. But i feel for microsoft. I think im gonna start a support website for em, and a eu government basshing one!

The EU wants to have more control over of what might happen if there is no partial access to sourcecodes. A nobel arguement - but this is business and a microsoft product, why should they not keep their codes for their own protection?

It's up to individuals to go along with it or do the step to an alternative.
I don't think that the EU can stand with their claims.

i think the EU just found a fundraiser to pay the debt we owe the usa, plms

anyway, what they want is right, its hard for people to make a good product to work on a windows pc if you dont have the access to the codes, or had big willy got some codes he wants kept secret? stuff that sends him info ?
