Addressing a developer conference in Sydney Australia, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said the idea of using WebKit as the rendering engine within its web browser was "interesting" and added "we may look at that."

Yes. I started a thread about that a week or more ago.

Webkit's awful, well at least I've never had any positive experiences with safari when I've been using a mac. There's nothing that wrong with IEs rendering engine as it is, so I don't see why they would have to go adopt another.

You're experience with WebKit/Safari is questionable since Webkit is one of the most advanced rendering engines around while IE is the worst browser on the planet. And that is known, provable and verifiable.

    :D

I don't like WebKit... I have had very dumb problems with WebKit, such as I had a float: right div over a float: left div, and it took me forever to fix it in Safari, because I then thought, could it be that stupid that it can't handle float: right over a float: left div? And what do you know? I put the float: left above the float: right and it fixed it.

Microsoft won't do this, it would be a big waste of money, they have sunk a lot of money into Trident, and Trident 4.0 (In IE8 Beta 2) is so much better, and from articles about comparing IE8 Beta 2 to that of Firefox 3, IE8 is a lot faster, yet its not even done.

Well, Aldo, I hate to tell you this but what you compliment IE for is actually a bug. Parent elements are never to expand to contain floated elements. Safari was performing correctly as would all modern browsers (and IE is not a modern browser). Webkit is far, far more advanced than IE8 could ever hope to be.
I don't know what you've been reading but stop. Firefox's javascript engine, coming out soon in FF3.1 is 6 to 8x faster than IE8s, and all javascript engines, right now, are faster than IE8. Also, IE8 will be 11 years behind web standards when it comes out. You need new reading material.

What I compliment in IE..? Then you are saying Firefox 3 & 2, Opera 9, and all other browsers have flaws too. Because the float: right div over the float: left div worked in IE8, IE7, Firefox 2 and 3, and Opera 9 without being all screwy, but was screwed up in Safari only.

You said Trident and IE8 are much better.
Then I don't understand what the problem is. Show a link or the markup. But Webkit is still far more advanced than IE8.

You will have to wait... I am not at my home computer with it...

Where did I say Trident is better then ___? I said IE8/Trident 4 is a lot better at standards then any IE version before it, of course...
