Depends what mods you put in it, some are asking for trouble while others are somewhat legal / undetectable lol..

since my last post and now, i am back on live so much for MS ban hammer.

btw you pll hardly understand , gamers are the only ones who actually buy the game after we try it out, game dev's always had the full support of file shares , not long ago one company infact launched their new game on torrent sites they knew if ppl like it they will buy the full for online and that is how it works.

corporates have to realize that they have to change their own business modules and not the other way round. by doing this MS has suffered in the long run. hundreds will move to ps3 and also the fall back on win7 which was one OS which deserved to be bought ,lol the hatred over 360 bans is going to see huge fall in sales for that too.

If you get caught you get caught. People should see the hitler advert on youtube. Does anyone know the email for the reporting of consoles modded?

Man, you gotta love the internet. Everyone's suddenly an economics expert, pulling numbers outta thin air.

I remember checking out the extras on my God of War II disc. There are TEAMS of people working on these games, from the conceptual artwork all the way down to the finished product. Dozens of guys sat in dozens of cubicles... they had guys creating the wireframe structures and other guys painting them, actors running through the scenes, voice experts, playtesters, bug lists, motion capture equipment... the list goes on and on. The amount of effort that goes into the games these days is amazing; they cost more (and make more) than some movies.

And then what? Advertising! Television, radio, print ads, interviews, press releases, marketing, printing, shipping... $5 a disc? You gotta be kidding me.

Microsoft loses alot of money just of people buying copies. There are often police raids on the markets.

Its makes me chuckle. People thought they were being so smart buying mod games. They do not look very smart anymore. Since I sell legal games I think its the best thing since sliced bread. Go buy your PS3 then. They do not have near the game selection that xbox has. For the cheaters that saved all the money, now they can spend it on buying another console if they want back on xbox live. With the world population doubling in the next decade, xbox will not be missing the cheaters. They made the console cheap for consumers to buy. They only make money on games. Some people probally think it should be just given to them. Just like the world owes you a living. Dream on.

Microsoft's work here is a much better outcome than cranking the DRM lever which tends to be the normal response (and ultimately peeves ALL users). Great post on piracy at http://www.tweakguides.com/Piracy_1.html

My xbox was one that was banned and I didn't even mod it. I've never played pirated games or anything and they just ban me all randomly, then when I try to contact Microsoft they said they can't do anything.

The actual average amount it costs to produce one Xbox 360 game is about half a penny less than $0.32 USD. I do this for a living son, you're trippin.

They're stopping people from going online. And you don't have to create another account. The ban is tied to the Xbox not the Gamertag, so if you get a new 360, you can play online.

One question though, if you buy a used 360, and it was hacked and you don't know, only bought legit games and played them, you could also get banned because it was in the past. And Microsoft are refusing to provide customer service for this. And I bet theres a ton of 360s traded in, which are probably banned.

I bought a 360 a year ago from GameStation. And got it home, and was banned :|. Which is what'll happen now as well. Poor kids who's families aren't rich but, want to get em a gaming console, preowned is great until you get a banned console, which is where the problem comes in. Whether the 360 was already banned when traded in, or isn't banned but hacked and becomes banned, technically, you're not breaking the T&Cs but you pay the price for it. Especially if you get it from a store which doesnt offer 12 month guarantees on pre-owned consoles. As it happens I got another pre-owned 360 to play CoD on while my partner plays it on the big TV. If I get banned because it was hacked before I got it (I haven't tested) I can take it back, even if it's a month down the line (or if i bought it a month ago), where as the shop a few doors down, only offers a 1 month guarantee. If I'd got it from there and was hacked/banned, Idda been stuffed because no refund or exchange from them and Microsoft won't do a damn thing about it.

More comments since I replied. Leptoon, was yours pre-owned? And if not, I do know some legit users have got banned, and again, Microsoft won't do a thing about it. Which, in turn, a little bit of piracy, is it really worth more than turning away and pissing off many more users? For any of the above reasons?

Heard about this but thought it was more around the 1 million mark. Thankfully I don't have an xbox and Wii isn't as harsh on mods.
