Listen, I'm not defending Microsoft as a company (God knows I've had my fair share of windows hell) and I don't even own an Xbox. That being said, when you sign onto their LIVE network I'm pretty sure you're agreeing to their terms of service. And without even READING those terms of service, I can guarantee they include that tampering with or modifying your Xbox hard drive through - whether through third, fourth, or even fifth party means - will immediately void your subscription. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what you're agreeing to when you use their network.
Trust me on this, they're not losing money. Do you know 'PS3'? the console which its games can't be pirated. Guess what? it is a FAIL product in Asia. (which made it to FAIL everywhere else in the world) People prefer Xbox OVER PS3 because its cheaper to have Xbox, it can play pirated copies. Alrite, so they ban xbox users (these people are mostly users in Asia or any other locations which piracy is everywhere) Not that I'm supporting 'piracy' but to be honest, who would give the 'f' if Microsoft ban modded xbox. there is no way that we're gonna go buy a new one and buy original games just because we don't have the access to Xbox Live. Take iPhone for example, they sold tons... Guess what, I've got it even before it is available here in Asia. So i guess, the asian people kinna contributed a lot to this industry.
Me, personally? I don't own an XBOX, nor do I play XBOX live. But, there should be no reason to ban Xbox's who have an extended hard drive; this is impossible to sort out, though, so as a result, everyone is banned. This, in my opinion, is wrong of them. Yeah, alot of things will void your subscription according to them, because they don't want to be liable. You know what I think? F&*k microsoft and their rich ass corporates. I think pirating is completely alright, because I for one, will not pirate an album from a musician I like. I contribute to the economy, and I go buy one. So..yeah, that's it for my rant lol
Multi-billion dollar coporations don't get that way by giving away all their products for free, do they? The whole modified xbox thing is actually fair, the hard drive thing is fair but "chipping" your xbox to play any game for free is just hurtful to people who PAY for the game, the honest people (like me ) Oh, and i'm not that big a fan of microsoft, my xbox is on its 3rd RROD (3 red rings)
I think its great. There is over a million banned consoles now. There is other cheats that are legal. Like the one I show on hack-in (dot) com showing how to go wireless without buying the official adapter. I also sell legal games so it does not bother me that the hacked game users get their console banned. Its not a legal hack. They are breaking the law so why feel bad for them? Microsoft makes money. Good for them.
The cost of making a game is half of $60? You got to be kidding me. A game costs millions to develop, not to mention the insane amount of time it takes. You might be talking of how much it costs to make a CD, which is pretty cheap but then you can't disregard the fact that huge amount of money, time and intellectual property is involved in making games.
Good for xbox. Cheaters suck. it cost more money to develope the actual console than what they sell it for. they make their money off of games.
Obviously; I'm talking about the cost of making the physical CD/case, etc. My point is: these are all contributing factors to why there is so much inflation in the world. Millions of dollars..on developing a video game for entertainment purposes? Etc? Eh, I'm just ranting. I agree with you guys to an extent, I just think there's some things that aren't wrong, but that are deemed wrong by Microsoft.
This defeats your own argument. Continued and rampant piracy would be a contributing factor to why the price of games goes higher. Inflation driven up by the cheaters who don't buy the game, being paid for by the people who do.
Piracy would be a contributing factor to why the price of games goes HIGHER? Really? Let's explore that further; if you buy a pirated game for $20 dollars, those $20 dollars goes directly into circulation in the hands of someone who is probably middle-class or lower, who in turn goes out and buys other things, even if they're blank C.D.'s from Office Depot. People will not stop buying $60 dollar video games (including honest people, like myself -- I've never owned a pirated game in my life)..I just, unlike other people, refuse to mess with my console. What I'm trying to say is that Microsoft will NEVER lose money as a result of piracy; Windows 7 was pirated in Japan about 3 weeks before release here, and is still being pirated for about $15 dollars which is much cheaper than the retail price here. Face it: Piracy gives way to other aspects of the economy, whether we like it or not.
Maybe some people will not buy Xboxes anymore if they screwed mine up I would never buy one again. Screw Microsoft they are just an out of control monopoly.
I thought I heard that it could be up to a million banned. 600,000 a million what's the difference I guess. These things have been popular with modders for a long time now. I can't blame a company trying to protect there product or service, I kind of understand why some might do it considering the cost of these things and games these days. I'm not a big gamer anymore but I've followed xbox and ps2/3 for a while just to see what they come up with next.
Am I the only one that sees this as a plus side? 1) PS3 not banning is actually a bad thing; people are running around with modified games, which allows them to always score higher and better throughtout various titles (Aimbots, Heat Maps ect..). This includes the new Call of Duty MW2. Which results in a less "fun" game for the legit players. Source: PS3 Modding Forum(s). 2) Its illegal to mod your xbox, in which, you are breaking the terms, its a risk you take. A smart gamer would have 2 xbox 360s. 1 Arcade for his LIVE and another for modifications and pirated software. Arcade costs $200 ($100 last week at Walmart, in which you got $100 gift card) or ($125-$150 on ebay, Sealed System) Source: Common Sense. 3) Pay $60 or just wait for the price to drop. Its how technology works. If there is a demand, then the price will stay up, that is Capitalism at its finest. If you have a problem with it, go open up your own gaming company. Source: Economics 4) Look at some other positive sides, such as,less energy wasted and gives the kids more time to look at their education. Source: Common Sense. Overall, their system isn't trash. They might not be able to go online but they can still play around with the firmware and still play pirated software. Expect they won't get the benefits of playing online. I do not see a problem in that at all.
got banned playing on a legit copy of Forza all my games well nearly 95% were bought and legit, MS has lost faith of gamers and i swear am going to play play pirated games now read this MS and go ps3 way for online and btw some day soon somebody will come up with a way around this too cause everything MS does is fail, all they get is the money they keep from live subscriptions for now.
