    nice thing you mentioned rahulm

but as far as copy righting issues are concerned i think google never had a clean chit in this nor they get into any trouble

actually i read it some where that google enjoys economies of scale even in sorting out legal issues

If you ask me, both companies are birds of the same flock. Got too big and forgot where they came from then ultimately forcing people to their will.

Google + Microsoft = Monopolistic Greed

For one, as far as I know they use reviews, not excerpts. For another, I bet where they do use copyrighted material they have permission.

They do use the text of books, but only with permission, for their search inside functionality - I just posted them the permission to use the print version of my website.

However, Google are relying on exceptions to copyright law, "fair use" in this case. This exemption exists to allow things like quotes in reviews without the publishers permission.

They are probably right about this being OK in the US, they may run into problems in other countries, as happened with Google News.

Are you serious? MS has been around since the 80's with DOS and have a near complete monopoly in their field. I bet every singe corporate PC at Google uses Windows. Just because Google is smack dab in the face of internet users everyday, don't think that MS is out for the count!

The biggest thing about Google is Google.com and youtube.com

    Microsoft has:

Windows, Zune, MSN, Hotmail, Xbox, Programming enviroments Visual Basic, C++, Java, ASP, Microsoft Office etc,...

The average user can most certainly live without Google, but they can NOT live without Microsoft.

Yes, but neither one of you stated live.com vs. Google. You said:

"Microsoft can never stand aside Google".

That leads one to assume you are referring to the companies themselves and not their services/products.

    yes rahulm

moreover they have clear competitive advatage just coz of that strong team

but i think ethical business and corporate responsibility started pressuring google as well

their magic tech launch for youtubes shows that only

i think they are a bit more concerned than before about this copy writting issue

but one thing is clear they are safe absolutely coz no one can do any harm to them even if they voilates the copy writting law

they enjoys a real good possition
