    CNN report :

"Microsoft and Yahoo have finally come to a search deal and will announce the details of the agreement in the next 24 hours, according to a report.

It is not clear whether the two companies have signed any official papers, but the negotiations of the deal, which also includes advertising, have finally come to a close, The Wall Street Journal said Tuesday. "

I guess yahoo has better search resoults since the time of a unique user spent on my website is higher than google according to Analytics.

Yahoo and Microsoft have annouced they will joining forces.

Yahoo search will now be powered by Bing and Microsoft advertising will be in control of Yahoo - Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8174763.stm

So what will Google's next move be? Maybe try and buy Facebook or Digg like they have done with Youtube?

I can't see them buying more sites in the current economic crisis. Youtube is loosing them money at the moment, and advertising budgets are down. I doubt they will see a combined MS/Yahoo as a threat, unless Yahoo manages to take YPN to the next level

Yahoo needs to make YPN international if they want to be a real competitor for Google Adsense.

Yahoo+MicrosoftBing combined can definitely overtake Google.

    All they need is:
    a) Give more money than Google Adsense.
    b) Drive more traffic to more websites, index more websites, provide tools to webmasters, and create a more efficient system of SERP ranking.
    c) Create a new ranking system for websites, maybe in a toolbar, or firefox extension (perhaps something similar to alexa), this would be revolutionary.
    d) Remove anti-webmaster tools like AJAX viewing of site's content (reduces traffic to websites, and increases queries/overhead).

Google is still number one, its going to take a while for bing and yahoo search to take affect. I think google will always remain number one and bing will be a second option like ask.com

Ha! That seems to be Google answer for everthing. If they can't figure out what to do, they just ban a few Adsense affiliate and close some Adwords accounts and hope things get better.

I think in the end google is still gonna win. And why is that? Because of google adsense and google adwords. When you start talking money, people listen. And there are a lot of people out there making money off of google.

Yahoo nor microsoft has developed a response to adsense. And until they do, google is gonna win.

Maybe if Yahoo make another move by offering the ads YPN worldwide it will get an extra advantage in such a fight ?

Buying Facebook would be hard for Google for two reasons:

    1. Microsoft already owns a portion of Facebook
    2. Facebook is highly valued, which means Google would have to water down the value of its current shares if it wanted to pursue an equity-based purchase

Keep in mind, Microsoft did not acquire Yahoo. They are merely letting Yahoo use their Bing technology in exchange for a revenue share.
