I Heard Microsoft And Yahoo are close to an online search and advertising deal. If they come along with each other What about Google
You have a 15% market share company merging with an 8% share. Some may think that adds up to 23% but some of those are not loyal users. It might end up as two dinosaurs eating their young with the total only adding up to the original 15% or slightly higher. How many Yahoo users won't use Bing? How many Bing users won't use Yahoo. And the two leave to go to Google? Will the cost be so high to Microsoft that it drags the whole company down?
Do the man hbl. 15+8=23. Only 1/3 of Google. But that math won't happen and it will be less than that.
Microsoft went ahead with the Bing only after it failed to gobble up Yahoo. I do not think there is any possibility of such a deal going through...now. This chapter is probably dead and in the cold storage for MS...I guess. Regards, RightMan
Estimates range as high as a third of the market share combing these two - nothing to sniff at - and MS is not buying Yahoo. Microsoft is sitting on tons of liquid cash so there is no chance this will drag them down.
Simple maths 19.6 + 8.4 = 28.0% http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/07/17/BUSD18R1IG.DTL&type=tech http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=21281 http://money.cnn.com/2009/07/15/technology/bing_google_yahoo_search/index.htm?postversion=2009071516 Some estimates are a bit higher - Just short of a third (fluctuates from month to month amd there there are several estimates). Even 25% share is still not something to sniff at. No web marketer or SEO can ignore 1 in 4 of the market. Read the tea leaves. They do this deal and they are a player. Like it or not. I'm assuming not
It doesn't work by simply adding the two %ages together because you aren't taking into account the collateral damage which is impossible to predict.
Granted. No one knows positive or negative what the results will be down the line but given that numbers were being already added in the thread I saw fit to point out the differences in estimates. Really doesn't matter what the exact numbers are this does make both Bing and Yahoo strong enough not to be ignored. along with collateral damage you also have to consider the synergy it can create. I welcome a strengthening second search entity. Monopolies in any area are always a bad thing for consumers.
With Bing gaining some momentum, it may not make sense for MS to merge - Yahoo seems to be stuck in neutral right now...
I would say that Google will always be at its best cos the foundation and the standings of Google is on it highest peak..
