I understand if pit bulls are treated well they are just like many other dogs. But they are also the favorite breed the lower end of society and therefore end up being mistreated and act like mistreated animals. If I was getting a dog now I'd eliminate pits, dobermans, canarios, rottweillers and any other breed that might be associated with maulings, gang bangers etc. I'd pick something like a boxer, a bulldog, or a working class dog. Why did you end up with a pit?
Because I wanted one. They're the most loyal dog you can find, and pass better than other dogs on the tests. In fact compared to the average of other breeds that pass in the 70% range, true pit bull terriers pass at 82.5%. They're a loyal dog, and are very good with children. They represented the United States in WWI and if you took the advice of the article (and follow the link) you will find links to a few sites that show what is what. Instead of eliminating the dog, why not eliminate the people? I love Pit Bulls, they're the nicest dog breed you could ever want.

I am not sure what you mean by pass a test but I am guessing that you are referring to a temperament test like the one at http://www.atts.org/stats1.html. There are plenty of dogs that score higher. We had a German Shephard when I was very small and it was a very smart loyal dog but my parents gave to the blind society when we moved into a neighborhood with lots of small children as they didn't want to give the neighbors concerns. Later we got a Beagle mix mutt and it was plenty smart and loyal.
