    I think vertical is the way to go mainly because it's the only thing that shows up on their screen so they will probably click on an ad. Anyway, MFA's are not allowed by google, you might get banned for doing such a site

    I think a single 336x280 block plus a link unit works best in a minimalist site.

    I've seen pages with more than 30% CTR using the following scheme:

    Page title
    336x280
    Text
    link unit

    The Strategy is to make the article title very relevant to the ads, and the article very focused in a topic, so a single block gets 2 or 3 ads that pay high .

    Of course, as you know I can't reveal the pages, the owner or the advertising network because that will get the owner banned because of the TOS =)
