Its a new one for me.
This may sounds crazy - but i like to ask. 'Targeting misspelled keywords" - is it consider as black-hat SEO or not..?

    Thanks in advance...

Yes you can optimize for misspellings... but at what cost? Personally I don't optimize my pages for misspellings ever. I think it makes your site look TOTALLY unprofessional. I wouldn't hire an SEO firm who can't even spell SEO any more than I would hire an article writer to write articles in English when they speak/write in broken English. Sites with misspellings in the <title>, <h1>, etc. appear unprofessional to me.

If you want to rank for misspelling I would suggest you NOT optimize YOUR site for the misspellings. Instead build inbound links from other sites where the misspellings are used as the link text. This way you still rank for the misspelled keyword phrase but the OTHER site looks like the idiot, not you.

Good point, if you use these techniques there is a good chance of you being caught very soon. Your site will get unindexed and banned from search engines. Classic seo methods are more time consuming however the benefit is there.

Geographic page spam (creating identical copies of pages with different village, town, city names)

it works for a while but report it via google webmaster tools and they get them removed

100% true, cant agree more. Providing the best user experience is the key to success for any website, even seo doesn't matter before it. :p

The problem with misspellings is Google recognizes misspellings for most words and will offer "correct" spelling results as well as nice blue bold correction.

I avoid misspellings nowadays as they worthless.

I would avoid misspellings simply from the standpoint of looking unprofessional. The hit to your brand, or possibly a lesser chance of converting to a sale, because they doubt your site due to a misspelling - in this spell check age? Not worth it in my opinion.

    Good content, plain and simple.
