Meteorite Sighting?

I thought I was seeing things, but no, I was with a mate at the time a couple weeks back, and he was in complete amazement too, what we saw appeared to be a flying fireball in the sky (i would assume a Meteorite) which was heading for the ground but just eventually disintegrated into thin air. This all happened within a matter of seconds. My mate had a video phone with him but didn't manage to capture any footage.

    Anyone seen anything like this?

Nah this was no normal shooting star, seen plenty of those, this was a fireball which would have been bigger then a plane on fire

I am halfway between Sydney and Brisbane. The comet was able to be seen for many days. The night I saw it was for 3 hours.

I've seen a couple of fireballs, they're really cool to see streak across the sky. At first it looks bizarre because it literally looks like something is burning and flying across the sky, but once you realize that it's a piece of rock or space junk burning up in the atmosphere it's amazing.

Yeah at first I was tripping.. thinking it was a plane on fire or something. Every plane which flew past that particular night I double checked just in case :D

I've saw one of those before.. it kinda freaked me out. It was burning and streaked overhead and then exploded. It was crazy.
