meta tags question

I just took on the duty of running a website for a real estate broker. He is getting some search engine traffic and is ranked in the top ten for some very importaint keyword phases. The person who originally designed and optimized his site put about ten phrases in his keyword meta tags. He also put the same keywords in his description meta tags, but not in a sentance. He put them in, separated by comas, as if they were in the keyword tags. I would rather he had a regular style description, with a well written sentence, but I fear that changing it might make him sink in the search engine rankings. Any suggestions.

    Thank You

SEO is a trial and error but I suggest you change it to a meaningful sentence.

You can safely edit the meta description tags because they have zero value for ranking purposes (there's some tiny value on Yahoo). The best practice is to write keyword rich description tags that incite clicks (because the meta description may appear as the link description of your page on the SERPs).
