Meta Tags question

Discussion in 'Keywords' started by infonote, Jan 22, 2006.

Are meta-tags still useful for Google and other search engines?

Or it is an old method that major search engines ignore?

    Thanks in advance

It is still used to a certain degree. It's much better having them, than going without. You might be surprised as to what difference it can make.

use them. maybe they do not make any difference in the SERPs. however, they may increase the CTR as google very often shows them in results.
so if you are #1 and have shitty description in the SERPs, a page below you may get better CTR.
    just like in adwords :)

I found that Google still uses some meta tags in there keyword indexing. The meta tags that still show importance to google are the Title Tags and the Description Tags. I still use my keyword meta tag but word around town seems to indicate that Google values this tag less and less. But I still implement it in my HTML any way.

I use meta description and keywords. The discription is important because you don't want the SE's to pull some random text from your page for it and the keywords probably aren't used anymore in the Big 3 but I do it anyway out of good habit. It's important to use keywords that match the words your targetting on that particular page.

Yes, use Meta tags Google using them on search result and google is the best search engine so far, use your Keyword on the title as part of the title.
