Meta tags optimization is not all

Meta tags are important for website optimization. But meta tags are not the only way to optimize. There are many other practices like bookmarking, classifieds, directories, blogs, articles etc are very much helpful in optimizing the site.

Besides this alt tags and anchor tags are also helpful as it helps the crawler to crawl your website on that particular keyword. This make your website look neat and understandable when crawled by any user.

 

agreed, meta tags aren't the whole picture - i find that header tags have more weight than meta but you need to optimize everything to get best effect.

 

When an image is used as a link like:

The since the IMG element has been placed where the link text would normally go for the link, they usually consider the ALT attribute of the IMG element as the link text for the anchor (<a>) element.

Of course, the alt text "should" describe the image it's pointing to, but if you can work the targeted keywords for URLofOneOfYourPages into the ALT attribute for URLofYouImage, that's great. But text links are always better than image links with ALT attributes from an SEO perspective.
