I have read about Meta Tags and they say it is important in SEO but i dont have any idea of it. Anyway how can we place meta tags in our blogs or site? I do hope you can share about meta tags and its importance in SEO...

Google ignores the meta keywords tags. All the other meta tags are understood by google. You need to include meta description tag up to 160 characters in length in your pages. That way, you can use meta tags for seo purposes.

put the meta tags in your header or index page what ever you are using.. look at the default source code of a web page: <html> <<-This is the top of the page <head> <<- The first head <title> this is the meta title tag</title> <meta content=â€keyword1, keyword2″> <<- this is the Meta Keywords code </head> <<- Before the </head> <body> This is the content of your page. </body </html> <<- This is the bottom of the page so put the meta tags After the first head <head> and before the last </head> good luck
Definitely read the link provided by Camay123 above. The keywords part of the metatag is not necessary anymore.

you are right, meta tags are much important factors in site promotion. Placing right meta tags for our site is know as onpage optimization.

Meta tags are important, but there are more tags & attributes that one needs to consider when we're talking of a proper On Site Optimization, like img alt attribute, a href title attribute, h1-h2-h3 (all heading tags should appear on page - of course not in they're natural state, blend it with the rest of the content with some CSS). All of those factors are useless if one throws twenty keywords on a page - this will dilute it and nothing good will come of it. My recommendations are for 3 to 5 keywords per page. Another thing - each page MUST have unique keywords. Have fun
I would like to asked if this is applicable to wordpress or blogger blogs? Because I wanted to place it in different platform but I wonder if both is applicable to those platform I mentioned
for wordpress you can use plugin like: all in seo for blogger, you should edit your template, index.. put it in your pages good luck

If you dont able to create meta tags then download the tool METTY (meta tag create tool) with this tool you can easily create the meta tags of your site. For addiding a meta tag go to the your file which you want to add meta the after <head> you can add you meta in the file.
this is simple things u can use your keywords in Mata title, Mata description and mata keywords in title use only 65 Characters, in Description 250 Characters and in keywords use 250 Characters
I don't think Google put enough attention to meta tags anymore... anyone can easily put any keywords in meta tags, although their website content didn't have anything to do with those keywords... that's why meta tags isn't that important today... you might consider creating good content containing your keywords. And also focus on backlink buildings... Google love website with lots of quality backlinks...

I don't know where previous posters are getting their information about the importance of meta tags, but that are handing out bad information. It has been proven time and time again that meta tags are NOT important from a ranking perspective... that they are ignored by almost every search engine on the planet when ranking your pages for particular keyword phrases. Because these HTML elements are NOT displayed anywhere on the page, the meta keyword and description elements have been so abused over the years, no respectable search engine uses them to rank pages. The meta keywords tag is totally ignored by Google and most other search engines when ranking pages for keyword phrases. Even Yahoo! recently "claimed" they ignored it at SMX, but Danny Sullivan proved with a quick test that they actually were still using the meta keywords element in their ranking algorithm. There is a reason Yahoo! is outsourcing their organic search to Bing... because they are a joke IMO. The meta description tag is also totally ignored by Google and most other search engines when ranking pages for keyword phrases. However, I will say that optimizing meta description tags is VERY important, especially at Google. While it's not used by Google and most other engines to rank, the meta description is often displayed as the Google search snippet assuming all of the keywords in the search phrase exist in the meta description. Getting a well crafted meta description to be displayed as the Google snippet with a call to action can drastically improve your click-thru-rate when your URL appears in the SERPs. So meta keywords is worthless from a ranking perspective... meta description is ALSO worthless from a ranking perspective, but can be important if properly optimized because it can increase your CTR. <title> is very important (the most important on-page ranking factor) but <title> is NOT a meta tag. If it doesn't start with "<meta " then it is not a meta tag.
