Meta tag says visit every 15 days but sitemap.xml says visit every 7 days for Google bot crawling/indexing. Is it ok or it contradicts each other or it is a confusion fo Google bot.?
u can set both the things same so just do that change in your meta tag. i think google will follow sitemap.xml first and crawl your site a'ter 7 days than when it finds that in meta there is 15 days than onwards i will crawl every 15 days. let's see what other members say.
I don't know whether google listens to advice on how often they should crawl your sitemap. I do know it does not pay any attention to how often meta tags say the site/page should be recrawled. The only meta tags worth using are 'title', 'description' and (for MSN and Yahoo) 'key-words'.
Exactly. Google doesn't respond to the indexing instructions in either the meta tags or an XML sitemap. Note that you can, however, control which pages are NOT indexed by using either a robots.txt file or a robots meta tag (using noindex, nofollow). But alas, these cannot be leveraged to dictate to Google when they should recrawl your site. I hope this helps.
The revisit META tag is not used by any of the major search engines and never has been. If you believe in the effectiveness of META tags like the revisit or the keyword then you will certainly want to try this one: <META name="Rank" content="Make me number one"> - Michael
What does really affect google's indexing frequency is content update frequency at your site. Once i started updating my blog 1 time a day, i get visited by spiders once every two days.
indexing frequency is determined by: - site pr - rate of new content addition on your site - age of site (or in other words: google trust)
