    Hey there,

    I was just wondering something:

    <meta name="revisit-after" content="1 Days">

Does this tag effect how often your site is crawled?

Currently, I have this tag set to 5 days in my site. Maybe I should decrease it to 1 day?

    Please advise.

    Sincerely,
    Travis Walters

I am not an expert in metatags, but I would awesome the more you update your site, the more you'd want a search engine spider to crawl over it.

I'd say set it to the least amount of time possible. Just my opinion.

But...Like I said I am no expert in meta tags.

    Hey there,

I did some further research on this. It does not look like this meta tag is even supported by google and yahoo.

    http://www.seoconsultants.com/meta-tags/revisit-after.asp

Looks like I dont have to worry about this after all.

The thing about fresh content, everything is new right now. We just redesigned everything and its now running with coldfusion.

Its a wonder why Yahoo and MSN search engines are not crawling it like crazy. Google has the most so far.

I think yahoo is making tweaks lately though.

    Sincerely,
    Travis Walters

    Hi,
I think META Tags or what are officially referred to as Metadata Elements, are found within the section of your web pages. Though largest search engines do not 'spider' the keyword Meta Tags on your page, and in some cases ignore these completely; the use of Meta Tags on your page still serves an important purpose.

    On the metatag theme

Entering Keywords within is it better to put in phrases

"Blue widgets, Red Widgets, Cool Widgets, Free Widgets"

    or

    "Widgets, blue, red, Cool, Free"

    or even

    "Widgets blue red Cool Free"

    Many thanks for any help

I think some SEs ignored it (meta tags)...

That meta tag is useless. No one uses it.

Googlebot visit frequency depends on multiple factors including page strength, frequency of updates, crawl rate set in Google Webmaster Tools, etc.

I don't think Google gives a flip if a meta tag tells googlebot to come back after 1 day.

forget about metas for crawling, the only way to keep the google bot coming back and caching your website, is to add fresh and quality content regulary.

    Ignore that meta tag.

You should only be concerned about the following
    title meta tag
    description meta tag
    keywords meta tag

(Did I miss out anything?)

BTW, if you are using a blog, make sure your blog to ping automatically after writing a new post.
