Hi everybody, just a noobish question, which the correct value for the keywords 1. <meta name="Keywords" CONTENT="one, two, tree, four, ... "> 2. <meta name="Keywords" CONTENT="one two tree four"> I saw the 1. version at a site with SERP #1, but saw the second with SERP#2 for the same keyword, considering that the first one is 4years older site then the #2. So which is the right keyword usage with commas or w/o. ? Thanks..
I really do not think it matters. I have seen both used. IE Myspace.com uses number 2. option. <meta name="keywords" content="friends networking sharing photos finding friends blogs journals blogging journaling bands music rate pics join groups forums classifieds online social networking" /> Youtube.com uses <meta name="keywords" content="video, sharing, camera phone, video phone">
well I used to do too but saw this without commas and it seems a bit better, to have 2nd position where the 1st is a 6years old website. Well dunno.. what do others say..?
Here is a quote from the W3C.org recommendations. "Provide keywords and descriptions Some indexing engines look for META elements that define a comma-separated list of keywords/phrases, or that give a short description. Search engines may present these keywords as the result of a search. The value of the name attribute sought by a search engine is not defined by this specification. Consider these examples, <META name="keywords" content="vacation,Greece, sunshine"> <META name="description" content="Idyllic European vacations">" Looks like comma-seperation is the correct way to go.
I use commas as well. I don't think keywords are regarded very highly by search engines these days especially if your webpage has lots of content in it. Keywords are important if you have a purely flash site.
yeah i always use commas and it works Plus if you dont use comas and you have a two word keyword it can get confusing
yea I always use coma seperated, doubt it makes much of a difference though since most search engines don't place much emphasis on the keywords.
