META refresh redirect, what consequences for SE ?

I would like to know what I can expect from a META refresh redirect in this situation:

I made my first site (long time ago) on the free space my ISP provided me. (I was young and naive...)

This site gain some credit (links from .edu domain, wikipedia...) and a better ranking in SERPs.

After some time my ISP has been bought, change is domain name and redirect the old one with a 302 this way :

Most of my inbound links go to the first one and some to the second one.

I don't like this 302, and I want to develop this site, so I'm thinking about setting it up on is own domain.

But, I have no access to .htaccess or php (ISP's space allow just plain HTML), so the only way I can think of is a META refresh redirect.

I never had to use META refresh and don't really know what to expect.

    So my questions are :

Will I keep some of the old backlinks juice ? (Some of the webmasters will change the link to the new domain if I ask them, but I know not all of them will.)

How SE will see this redirect ? (like a fair 301, like a cloacking attempt with penalties ?)

And what is the best way to do it ? (delay for the redirect, old page --> new home / old page --> new page ...?)

I would really appreciate any insight, I don't want to "loose" this site, I'm kind of sentimental about it

    Thanks

    Sergi
