Is there any weight on the keyword position? Eg will the first keyword be seen as being more important as the 2nd?

Google doesn't use them for the serch engine, but if you are referring to a HTML title tag, be sure to get your keywords in that, and whatever you do, do not repeat the same keywords over and over in your meta tags. Though considered dead for tech, Meta Tags are still used by folks browsing the search engines for relevant sites to visit.

Yeah, as everyone else has said so far they have no effect upon rankings. Everything that Google uses to rank sites is either in your title/body or in someone elses.
