The limit for meta keywords is afaik 1024. But it's not suggested to have more than 20-25, at least that was telling me a SEO webpage. Boby
Search engines vary in their size preferences for meta keyword tags. It would be better if you use the more important ones at the starting of the tag. Also, don't be under the impression that all search engines list your meta keywords. TO my knowledge, Google ignores the keywords META tag.
Hello, Puerto Rico. I think you must not be concerned so much about the quantity of keywords you can throw in, as about the effect of them. Nowadays search engines do not rely much on keywords to index a page, but they analyze the text of the page, which is what really counts. Nevertheless, it doesn't hurt to use them, but there are some points to ponder. For example, I would judge is useless including several combinations of the same words. It can even be considered as spam, producing an effect contrary to that that you want. Instead of: Baby Rasta bio,Baby Rasta biografia,Rasta bio,Rasta biografia use Baby Rasta, bio, biografia
I have 2 more questions about the meta-keywords... Some sites let a space between commas (free, codes, java...), others don't (free,codes,java...) Which is the most correct meta? Also using the same keywords in upper and lower cases can be considered as spam? Rakim, rakim for example.
There is not a standard for keywords, so it is difficult to say what is right and what is wrong. In my opinion (others can think differently), there is no difference if you add spaces after or before the comma, or if you use uppercase letters or not.
Well, and just for the record: I've actually opened a similar thread here on the DigitalPoint forum back then; the thread in question is/was titled A question related to meta keywords usage ... /NOTE: In particular, I was asking about: what's better/best, to not to use many words and those in more than one variation (see the post by "TechnoGeek" in this thread), or to use many different words but only in one particular variation. tayiper
Keywords arent what they use to be, search engines dont really rely on keywords, seo & backlines are much more important in my opinion
The Meta Keyword tag * Use it to list keywords * Limit it to 1024 characters * List keywords in order of importance * Don't repeat the same keyword more than 7 times
All the robots should obey the "robots" meta-tag. The Googlebot tag is intended to use parameters that are not standard and that are unique to the Googlebot. Consult the Google documentation to know what they are: http://www.google.com/webmasters/index.html
