hi all i am seeing very poor results with my yahoo referrals and am trying to pinpoint the problem (or at least one of them). can meta keywords and description hurt rather than help in yahoo serp? here are a couple of example meta tags that my job search pages currently use (all dynamically generated). Note, <h1> in all cases contains the same values as found in meta description tag. job details page: 1) <meta name="DESCRIPTION" content="Job Details: Sr. Developer"> <meta name="KEYWORDS" content="job details, Sr. Developer"> 2) <meta name="DESCRIPTION" content="Job Details: SAP Manager, Business Applications Team"> <meta name="KEYWORDS" content="job details, SAP Manager, Business Applications Team"> resume page: 1) <meta name="DESCRIPTION" content="Developer Resume: Computer Electronics Technician or Computer Hardware Technician Skills: Configuration, Cable, Computer Assembly, Training and Support, Wide A..."> <meta name="KEYWORDS" content="developer resume, Computer Electronics Technician or Computer Hardware Technician, Skills: Configuration, Cable, Computer Assembly, Training and Support, Wide A..."> 2) <meta name="DESCRIPTION" content="Developer Resume: Programmer / System Administratior / Web Developer Application Development Web Development Unix Administration"> <meta name="KEYWORDS" content="developer resume, Programmer / System Administratior / Web Developer , Application Development Web Development Unix Administration"> Thanks for any feedback! i think if someone saw that description pop up when they searched for your terms they wouldn't be particularly drawn to the page. I would change your descriptions to make them more interesting for the searchers.
I think description is not proper. Description should be user friendly & se friendly, it should not be only keyword stuffing.
I seriously doubt that major crawlers even takes the meta keywords tag into consideration anymore, + runnerunner is right, people are more likely to click on your link on a SERP if they see what they are looking for, not your site's description. If you still prefer having a meta description tag, how about making it more human friendly? That's what people see on result pages, so a well thought out & catchy description is more likely to generate click-thrus than keywords.
u need some time to research on keywords. Then make your keywords and description proper according to your targeted keywords. this saves your time as well as you attain good ranking. ________________ seo services india affordable seo services
As a minor point, I always prefer, in a Google SERP, to see short descriptions that read like regular phrases, i.e., not every word with a capital letter. For example: instead of Developer Resume: Computer Electronics Technician or Computer Hardware Technician Skills: Configuration, Cable, Computer Assembly, Training and Support, Wide A..., maybe Resume for Computer Technician - incl. configuration, computer assembly, training/support, .... Personally, I scan the SERP and get a lightning quick idea of each link from 3-5 words in each description.
