Meta keys and desc - who came first?

In coding the <HEAD> of the html file, after the <TITLE> tag, is it better to place the meta 'Description' first then the meta 'Keywords', or the other way around.

I've seen examples of both, while here (http://www.googlerankings.com/basic.php) they are listing 'Keywords' before 'Description'

    Is there an optimum format?

    Thanks!

    :)

As far as I am aware - no

Google only uses the description and ignores [at this moment in time] the keywords.

So, as far as G is concerned, it is a non-event

I read an article several years ago, that suggested putting the meta description above the title tag in the head. The rational was that you can put more keywords in the description and that possibly the search engines give more weight to the first thing they read.

Of course as Foxy said it would only affect those SEs who read meta tags.

We tried this method for a while. I was never sure it really helped but in turn I'm sure it never hurt either.

Fascinating - its a bit like I keep putting in the keywords as comments <!--Modular Homes, Manufactured Homes--> whenever I remember, just in case.
