Hello guys I got a doubt regarding the meta description and meta keywords tags in Wordpress theme which I use. Now there is this default entry for the meta description and meta keywords for the theme which is placed on the header and so it appears on every page. I have All in One SEO installed which generates the meta description and meta keywords for each posts. So, my post would have two meta descriptions and two meta keywords now. Will this be a problem for SEO? When I use keywords extractor tool on internet, for my posts it shows meta description and keywords generated by the All in one SEO plugin as well as the default meta description and keywords which is inserted into the header. Some keyword extractors show only the meta description and keywords generated by the All in One SEO. Can someone throw some light on this. Thanks.
Did you view the source code and it does have double entries? Can you leave the themes entry blank and enter the description and keywords manually on each page/post instead?
Yes, there are double entries as I said in the original post. The source code for the post would contain: Meta Description = Default Entry from the Themes option Meta Keywords = Default Entry from the Themes option Meta Description = Generated by the SEO pack according to the post. Meta Keywords = Generated by the SEO pack according to the post. For example this particular thread would have this: Meta Description = Forum for webmasters discussion. Meta Keywords = webmaster,seo,cpm... Meta Description = Hello guys I got a doubt regarding the meta description and meta keywords... Meta Keywords = meta,keywords,wordpress,seo.. My question was not removing the default theme option, but will this affect the SEO in any form?
They'll probably see it as keyword spamming and could penalize your site, and it may affect your click thru rate in the SERPs depending on what's displayed. Me I'd avoid it JMO
Stop using the Theme's Meta Tags and only use All in One SEO. None of the Themes have an inbuilt SEO function better than All in One SEO.
Remove the one you don't want, which in this case should be the theme tags. Edit the code, use All in One only, and you're good to go.
