Before, there was Ronaldo. Now as something special and no. Maybe the interest is gone and maybe something else.
Messi is amazing, I think his talent is higher, so that the reason to pick him. But I want to be so much hardworking as Cristiano does.
Ronaldo 100%. Messi looks good in a team built around him. Put him in the Argentina team and he looks average. Ronaldo looked good at United, looked good at Real and looked good in the Portugal team. Basically, Ronaldo is good in a team of good players and good in a team of average players where as Messi is only good in a team of good players. For me, that makes Ronaldo the better player.
Portugal is hardly an average team to be fair, their stars are not as famous as the Argentines but they are extremely skillful. Portugal beat a strong France side in a final in France's home stadium without needing Ronaldo. Messi did almost win the world cup in 2014, and only losing the Copa America final on penalties, twice. It is crazy to believe but Messi was within a whisker of winning three major titles with Argentina, one world cup and two copa americas. In a hypothetical world, if we could put Ronaldo in Bolton or Newcastle, we would be able to see whether he could take a team of average players to greatness. In this world, there is no evidence for it. I am not saying Messi would have done any better. I don't think that one player is better than the other, Ronaldo could do things that Messi could only imagine, and vice versa. It is hard to compare apples and oranges, but many of us still try
The portugal squad is not a bad one, but most of the team in the 2018 were either in their last world cup or first. There is only really 2 first team players at the top of their game in their prime. The Argentina squad is probably not too dissimilar but their older players are a little younger and their younger players a little older than Portugals younger players, meaning their players are much more likely to be in their prime or closer to it. I think Ronaldo carried that Portugal team last year where as Messi was a flop. Ronaldo made that united team world class where as without him we were (I am a united fan...from Manchester) maybe good at most.
Ronaldo is absolute class, there is no doubt about that That United team was one of the best teams in the history of football.
The question asks "who is your favorite player between Ronaldo and Messi?" rather than "who is the better player?" I can answer the first question, but the latter question is impossible to answer objectively. Some prefer Messi's style of football (me), others prefer Ronaldo's style of football. They are both heads and shoulders above the rest. Football is not also an individual sport like tennis or golf, it is a team sport. So many factors come into play. If Messi was Spanish, he would have the world cup and the euro cups added to his list of major titles. Would a Spanish Messi be superior to an Argentine Messi? It makes no sense.
Utterly IMPOSSIBLE!!! There can ONLY be ONE best of anything, NEVER more than one. And further, there can NEVER be a best when there are ONLY two to choose from.
