    Simple, because the voters favor Messi over any other players (especially Ronaldo). Nobody really cares about the award anymore ever since Messi won it last season over Sneijder. Inter won the CL and he lead Holland to the final. Well, at least Xavi won the World Cup and he deserved the award more than Messi. Argentina was not even in the semi-final (beaten by Germany by 4 - 0). Pathetic. Messi can only play using Barcelona system and he never proven himself playing for other team. And the fact that he said he'll never leave Barcelona proven my point.

    That's because he only can play well using Barca tactic - ball posession above 70%. If the team lose possesion, he will end up like in Argentina. Put Messi in Real Madrid, he won't score 40 goals, put Ronaldo in Barca, he'll score 60 - 70 goals per season.
