Messenger deleting/muting convos?

    Ever since I updated Facebook messenger it's been acting up -- it will automatically mute conversations, sometimes it will delete whole conversations. About 95% of the time I will get drop-down notifications for when I receive a message in a pre-existing conversation, and when I click on it to go to said convo, that person's message is not shown. It will also sometimes log me out and have me sign in again as well as sync my contacts, without a "yes" or "no" option.

    Anyone else have this problem/know how to fix it?
    (I have an iPhone 6, iOS 10.2)
