    Greeting to Digital Point!!

We sometimes receive Infraction with reason "Duplicate Thread". Now my main point is "What if DP create a notification while posting a new thread for intimating the User" because there are thousands of posts found DP wherein we never do this intentionally still we receive such message. So it will be great if their will be some notification to user while posting with "Duplicate" by the time of posting only.

This will help user as well as moderator.

This is a good idea, they should just implement a time limit between when threads can be created.+

I've never encountered that, by "duplicate thread', is it referring to the same thread created by the same user, or a duplicate thread of any thread that already exists? If it's the latter, I'm pretty sure every possible thread that could be created has already probably been created.

Not by same user but by someone else...its like in inttoduction to digital point.. I simple created a post "hi dear" so i received infraction for creating a duplicate post.. Now its like in introduction person will onviously say hi so their is nothing like duplicatr.. Still DP considerd it as a duplicate and put infraction.QUOTE=Ralph23;17889042]I've never encountered that, by "duplicate thread', is it referring to the same thread created by the same user, or a duplicate thread of any thread that already exists? I've seen this implementation on other forums as well. I think it's a good thing to use it here as well.

I am not sure if you posted more than one thread in Introductions, but you are going to get more infractions for the way you post in that thread.

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2522779

You post over and over, in a row, useless posts. If you want to reply to 5 different people you can use the multi-reply function instead of just posting 4 or 5 useless posts in a row.

(The first 4 of these were posted over 5 minutes. That is both post-padding and bumping)

Posting 5 posts instead of 1 is useless. Posting things like, "Yep Martin ..." is useless.

Also, twice in this thread you have tried to quote somebody but messed up the code. Why don't you preview your post and fix that? Better yet, why don't you go back now and edit those and clean it up? You are missing a "[" in front of the "QUOTE" that starts the quote.

Thanks DP, this tool sometimes doesn't give the exact posting.. SO if their is something which can intimate us just while posting then it will help in a better way..

I couldn't quite follow what your problem is (you wrote "Not by same user but by someone else...its like in inttoduction to digital point."), other than the fact you're making duplicate posts. Using the search can really help there (note - you can also hover your mouse pointer over the thread title to get a preview of the content). You also know what you have previously posted and recently read. So taking all this into account, eyes and memory will help you know if you're making a duplicate thread.

You have received two duplicate thread infractions

1: Your favourite movie - yawn, these get merged together. Yes, you did start it with "Hello Dear" but that's not why the thread was a dupe. You do know that native english speakers younger than 70 would never say "hello dear" don't you?

2: You started a thread about Pepperjam instead of searching for our existing threads and then when nobody replied you bumped it (and didn't get a bump infraction FWIW)

The other day I had received a duplicate infraction on the same post. This is not fair :(

It is impossible for a moderator/admin to give two infractions to the same post. Members may receive multiple infractions in same thread. As an example. Suppose member posts a sales thread in the wrong category. The member could receive an infraction for thread started in the wrong category and other subsequent posts that violate our posing guidelines like bumping the thread, making useless posts like PM sent etc.

What happened is you received two separate infraction for the two different threads with titles:

[WTS] Active MastiLand Forum, with 14.9K members. Cheap! - Duplicate thread infraction - 27 days old
[WTS] MastiLand.com - Duplicate thread infraction - 29 days old
[WTS] Forum with over 149K members - Previous thread trying to sell the forum. - 38 days old

Members may not duplicate thread. They must use bump/edit/relist option on originally posted thread.

As Smyrl said, it's not even possible from a technical standpoint even if we wanted to.

This is what we see if we were to try...

Bubba Shawn, have you ever even used the search feature? You probably have more fingers than times you have. Nobody uses the search function. If they want to search the net they use Google. If you're on a site or a forum you browse through. Duplicate threads should further more be praised for different keywords it uses; maybe it's relevant to another thread but not a clone.

You must jest. I can't speak for Shawn but as a mod I use search constantly. How do you think we find all those duplicate threads etc? ;)

I have a feeling Shawn is a master of search.

A search is being performed every 4.9 seconds (1.8M searches in 103 days)... Fairly certain it's being used by people.
