Merging Websites - What is Affect on Alexa Rank?

Hey guys, I have a question concerning merging sites and the affect it has on Alexa rank. I'm merging two of my sites into a new third site. I worked hard building up the ranks on the two old sites and my question is do I lose the ranks I've built up? Also is there a way to salvage any of the work I put into boosting the ranks. I know Alexa is sometimes used to gauge the value of site and I plan on selling sometime in the future. Thanks!

You will loose the rank of those two sites, I think.

I don't think you'll loose the Alexa rank of the previous two sites. The third site however, will be ranked from scratch.

If you do redirect from the two sites to the third one, then the Alexa ranking should be better than any of the two old ones. But that will happen only after about 3 months. The Alexa rank is calculated on a 3 months average, and even if you have high traffic from day one, the 3 month average will still be with a start alexa rank in the millions.
