merging fields in excel

    I have an excel file containing around 3000 records.. of which this is the structure...

    Col 1 Col 2 Col 3
    Mike Jones 1
    Mike Jones 2
    Mike Jones 3
    John Smith 2
    John Smith 3


    Is there a way to merge these fields in excel to look like this...

    Col 1 Col 2 Col 3
    Mike Jones 1, 2, 3
    John Smith 2, 3

    Any ideas?

    The first thing that crosses my mind is to:

    1) Import it into MS Access
    2) Build a Cross-Tab query.
    3) Export results back into Excel.
