I wouldn't trust that merchant account if it doesn't require CVV.

As I know there is no any acceptable merchant account that doesn't ask for CVV2 number. Its the security code to validate the buyers payment.

Sort of reluctant to post this because the nature of your question leads me to think you are trying to use stolen credit cards. But, here's an article I wrote about a year ago: http://www.merchantaccountblog.com/archives/284

As of then, only about 1/2 of large ecommerce sites require CVV. Not sure what the exact current status on this is.

CVV/CVV2 is a good way for a merchant to help verifiy whether or not a card is present but not all merchants ask for it. Some only rely on the AVS info as they feel it's the most important plus requesting CVV2 doesn't affect their rate. It makes all the sense in the world for a merchant to ask for this info but if they don't that doesn't mean that they're not reputible.

I do apologize if I came across as accusing you of anything. The tone of the question came across as a little suspicious.

Anyway, the speed is going to be the same either way. CVV is completely free and at the very least should be checked but not necessarily required. We sometimes get CVV unavailable responses in which case we probably wanted the transaction to go through, so we flag these for review.

In any case that the CVV is not entered the terminal or "merchant" usually will accept the transaction. However, the cvv does add more security for the cardholder in a "card not-present" environment allowing the ability to open up a fraudulent transaction or "chargeback" procedure. Also, if you are processing the card there may sometimes be an additional charge to processing the transaction due to the fluctuation of interchange. What type of transaction are your trying to capture, and is this done through a shopping cart or an online payment gateway?
