most of you know surch.com but we just finished a year and a half long project called menusurch.com which will integrate into surch.com soon. we are running it as a stand alone website to start and wondered what you guys think of the site design.... the site itself is not completely uploaded but will be shortly. basically it has indexed every restaurant in the US and will contain their name, addy, and phone number... then if a restaurant pays a monthly fee they will have access to a site builder that we created allowing for a description, pictures/video inclusion, menu editor etc and be positioned on top for their given type of food in their respective area....

    anyways all feedback welcome!

    Thanks

there are too many restaurant types. i think you should narrow down the categories. like for asian, chinesem french, mexican, etc... you could first make a category like Native foods. or International. somtehing like that. the site is a bit too plain. a left/right bar menu can make it a bit lively and can be helpful to users because it enables easy navigation. (text links are gonna be just right in front of them).

it is better to use gif images than flash for your top banner. and don't forget to use good keywords in your alt-text.

thanks joe. I think we are going to include a second option that makes the categories more general but still leave the more finite category listings available for those that actually want to eat Chinese instead of japanese... one of the reasons we break it down so much is, for instance, California which has 176K restaurants in the state so to be properly indexed and ever have anyone see a given restaurants listing its best to do it this way.
