Menu--tell me what you think

Hello all. Past few days I have been trying to figure out a navagation menu that I like. I think this menu still needs a little work. I want to change the color and a few other things more then likely. But it is the style that I would like to go with. My main concern is that the "care sheets" section is too long. So please take a look and tell me what you think. You can see the menu at www.journeyoftheanimals.com/topmenu.php

Also as long as I am starting a thread, I have another quick question.

How can I tell what my site is going to look like under different screen resolutions, and of different browsers? I used to have a banner rotator on my site. I liked it but I guess under different resolution it covered some of the text. I would like to bring back the banner if I can get it to work right.

    Thank you in advance

I like it, but it does look a little... erm, "Web 1.0", at least in my opinion. Try more "defined" colors within the menu. See how that turns out

Aside from the lack of contrast on your hover states, your menu looks fine (on a first glance). I'd also point the arrows downward on the dropdown menu items, so the user knows which way the dropdown menu will appear.
