asking questions like this isn't an inherently bad thing to be doing; as marketers you always need to realize who your audience is and try to adjust your site, your sales methods, etc, to who they are, what they want, and what their interests are. you can cross that line and come up with an offensive campaign (think sony's white/black PSP ads), but again, there's nothing inherently wrong with just asking questions about the behaviors of different demographics of users. and this is coming from a woman
i still own a site called www.fashionspeak.com , which never took off well and is quite dormant now . If it was , maybe i would confirmed your theory
Although gender isn't specifically mentioned, this article suggests that people's emotional state, financial situation, age, and intelligence level affect their propensity to click on ads. There's much to be learned here, regardless of the "political correctness" of it.
Well I run a WWE Divas website where I imagine the majority of the visitors are men. The google ads are usually viewed about 900-1000 times a day and the CTR averages out to about 13%. So I think it's just based on the type of ads that are displayed, and the nature of your site. I'm really get screwed lately with the amount of money I'm making though cause one day there were997 impressions, 136 clicks, 13.64% CTR, and I made $7.04. I'm getting the real low paying ads. I'm spoiled by the month of August cause one one day I got 935 impressions, 83 clicks, 8.88% CTR, and made $25.71. In September I made less than half of what I made in August.
How do you expect a site like yours to be used for comparison if it isn't indexed by google and even msn? It's not a level playing field.
I believe that.. All the girls I know click on everything and anything.. Especially those ad games, they play that more then anything.
Interesting....I don't think gender plays a huge role. I agree that it's probably more your niche since you could have men that play on the other side of the fence click your ads.
I might offend some people by saying this, but it might help to write female content if you are homosexual. No pun intended.
you know my coming web sites target ladies b4 i read your post and now after i read it i will make it asap
I think that is the reason why my new myspace resource site got so many clicks in the last 3-4 days. It's total click rate is more than my 4 other websites put together.. It is girlie.. girlie and I saw that it ranked quite good for the search keyword myspace girlie layouts You can confirm it on this URL http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=myspace+girlie+layouts&btnG=Google+Search
men will surely click if they saw an image of a naked or half naked woman and vice versa. I guess, it depends on the type of site.
I watch my girlfriend and mom from time to time on the internet to see what they do. I agree with the OP. They click ads all day long. I've said it to them before too "you know you just clicked an advertisement and cost somebody 30 cents." Who cares they say. Women definetly click more than men.
No. It´s based in a 10 sites network. I just compared the Best website with the second best. But I have anoter 8 websites that do CTR about 2-3% that are mostly about guy stuff (I wrote them)
