Was browsing the forums earlier and other forums as well and ran across a forum who's owner was being sued by a large co. for some stupid reasons, and he decided to send out an newsletter to some 85k+ members. He asked if every member can donate at least an dollar for his legal fees. Turns out he got 35,712 donations of those 17,388 were $1 donations , 6,040 were $5 donations, 3,315 were $10 donations, 227 were $100+ donations. Since not everyone has pp he received 9,467 donations VIA Snail Mail, and keeping his word as he said he used those donations for the legal fees, with his own money he bough stamps for 9,467 envelopes to reply to every single piece of mail sent to him. 8,742 he says were all odd donations. Now I don't know what stamps cost these days, and I am not sure if you get large bulk discounts, but googling I found they cost 41 cents. So $0.41 x 9,467= $3,881.41 . He says he spent 16 hours writing back thank you letters. 36 hours of calculating the different amounts received. In the end he won his case which took only 6 months, he though it would take much longer. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Currently there are 117,318 Registered Members, 41,591 Active Members. If the owner of this forum or a member was in such deep financial hole if every person donated a single dollar, may it be a dollar you scammed someone out of or a dollar you earned with your own hands. $117,318 would be made to help out that person, a great amount that some don't even make in a lifetime. Sometimes it's nice to look at these numbers and come up with nice figures. ohh yea, one of these days ill have to blog about how I save money for different occasions.
I just hope people don't take advantage of nice members. It just goes to show what a hand full of people can do.
