Why, it's accidental? It's not like they purposely set out to delete everyone's data

No host is going to pay for damages. All terms of services say you assume the risk they are not responsible for any data. Of course you could fight it in court but it has yet to come up with $5/month web hosting.

That being said they really blew it on the backups side of things. If they were using Evault they should have known that it could not back up everything. But for some reason I imagine it can do an entire system like most other bare metal restore type systems. Only issue is MySQL in the buffer would not be on the disk (not a huge deal).

They'd look a lot better if they came clean on what really happened, but around here deception is the way to go.

You mean if not mellow, the company which made that HDD or OS should pay for your damage atleast, right? Because they are at the root of all this problem. Otherwise mellow should claim the DC for these damages. Don't you think so.

yes i also begin to feel like unlimited hosts are a big scam here at Dp.

Beware, only good reputed hosts are capable of hosting unlimited.

So i urge Dp members to choose hosts carefully, again and again.

The problem is not only the unlimited hosts but the people who buy the hosting, whilst there is a demand there people will see a chance to earn some quick $$$ on a reseller account or some ramshackle old server in the arse end of nowhere.

I dunno maybe a hosts 'alliance' is needed between the decent, honest, reliable hosts so that people can all tell that NetX & subsidiaries are all TRUSTED, IWhiC is TRUSTED etc. At least then those who are looking for a good host and are willing to pay realistic prices for realistic resources can do so, and not get snared & enticed by the lure of unlimited resources for $0.01 >_<

i completely agree with you. We need a list of "Trusted Hosters". And that we need to make it Sticky here at Hosting section.

Who is with me? Lets make it happen.

:) For the sake of all Dp members , who get scammed by those lowly 1 day riff off hosts.

Zeez, someone needs to do something..

I'd be happy to create the thread, get some discussion going about how best we can do this.
