No way will they beat youtube. I havnt even heard of this place til now

I specifically told you that these were mere assumptions, as i haven't dug into this story deeply.
However, even if Youtube made a mere 15$ mil in 2006, still doesn't mean that Megavideo can surpass them in terms of publicity.

Can Megawhatever pay 100 times as much as Google to market their website ? I don't think so.

And again, i'd like to point out the fact that MegaVideo uses the slogan "Beats YouTube" as a very poor marketing technique. The fact that they've put Youtube in their 'slogan' already says alot about them, and also says that they already bound to fail.

I prefer that, it's just unlucky to not have as much content (nobody does compared to youtube).. but much larger and higher quality

 

YouTube won't be beaten, as soon as a competitor comes close Google will upgrade the site.

 

I agree with a lot of people here; youtube = Google, Google = king of the internet. Also yes, Youtube has made a lot of publicity and I am wondering as well how Megavideo is going to beat Youtube. But I have to admit that Megavideo HAS the potential to do it.

You cannot compare Metacafe with Megavideo since Megavideo has 1) more features, useful features, innovative features 2) Megavideo has already a brandname and big sisters like megaupload (alexa #14) and Megarotic. So they do have big potential to beat them... if they succeed I don't know, but time will learn..

Maybe they not do in 4 months, but maybe they will do in 1 year, no one knows.. Rapidshare was also HUGE and popular, almost everyone was using it, they were popular since the beginning until Megaupload appears and steal the show.. how they do it does not matter, but they have done it. And now let's see what they will do with Youtube.. Again, not saying they will beat them, but just saying and believe they have the big potential to do it. Don't forget that Megaupload has made millions of dollars the past 2 years, they have the budget, technical skills and the drive..

 

Bskyb, a UK digital TV provider worth over $20billion use advertisements constantly referencing and bashing their nearest rival, so do MANY other corporations. Why using such tactics means your destined to fail i don't no.
And google bought youtube at such an expense to stop their rivals doing so before them, and with the idea of rolling out video ads, which hasn't seemed very successful so far.

No offense, i am just curious why do you support them so much.
I also think megaupload is a force and i was pleasently surprised about the new site but there are several negative aspects.
i just browsed the most recent video and i have seen a full nudity video, without any warning, explicitly 18+ material, and i was not even logged in... this it won t happen at youtube.
I have seen spam comments with the address http://www.blablabla , and again this wont happe at youtube, they block this comments.
The paid membership is really the majrdrawback and they will never reach youtube.

 

Yes, one of my best friends is one of the establishers/developers of the whole mega-venture, that's why it's more than logic I am just positive about them. I admit about the things you've said, but I think they will optimize it from day to day.

 

Unless they hire more designers or people than YouTube work on it , otherwise they dont stand a chance . Besides , YouTube staff are more experienced based on their time spent on YouTube
