I cannot believe some of you people.
First of all - Alexa is pure cowshit. It is very, and i mean VERY inaccurate - and i say that based on many personal experiences with my websites as well as others. I think it is foolish to even look at Alexa ranks as a serious tool of estimation.
Secondly, this website will never surpass Youtube, and will never get close to Youtube's traffic and popularity. Megavideo.com is going to compete against one of the most gigantic tycoons out on the net (Google) ? I don't think so.
It's all public relations to drive more traffic to the site as well as to create a buzz around the website. It's a simple marketing technique.

 

Youtube will never be beat, just like billgates and windows will never be beat. Its set in stone and impossible task to reach.

 

just keep in mind that Yahoo was the monster of search engines untill 2000 and google still managed to beat it in no time. its the internet everything is possible.

Mmmhhh... that site doesn't even look too much professional, how would it compete with Youtube/Metacafe/Dailymotion/etc.?

They are not stupid, firstly they have what is possibly the biggest adult site in the world in megarotic, then they have the biggest file host with megaupload. They have the money, and the knowledge to make serious competition to youtube if they wish.
But then again, looking at your earnings in your sig im sure you have more knowledge than any of us so i will go with your expertise...

 

It's nice to dream, but I don't think they will ever beat youtube.

If you seriously judge things according to Alexa, i must sadly say that you are a noob.
I'm happy for Megaupload and megarotic and megawhatever. However, they do NOT make nearly as 1/10 as much money is Youtube racks day by day, and not nearly 1/1000 from what Google makes each day. They are a puny competitor for Youtube IMO, they could get to the "top 10" list, but i don't think anyone will recognize them as number 1.

It will be a good idea to go with my expertise, tho, as you said.

Alexa is accurate enough for huge sites, but then you could always use comscore.
Er, i would bet my left nut that megarotic, and megaupload make a lot more money than youtube. Youtube hardly monetizes, im a paying subscriber to megaupload and megarotic along with hundreds of thousands if not millions of other people. Please tell me where all youtubes revenues are coming from?

Noone really knows the exact amount of money Youtube racks within a year. It is probably within the tens or hundreds of million$.
With all due respect to Megawhatever, i don't think they make such big bucks


AND i'd like to point out the fact that MegaVideo uses the slogan "Beats YouTube" as a very poor marketing technique. The fact that they've put Youtube in their 'slogan' already says alot about them, and also says that they already bound to fail.

 

the ads on the site are so wrong its got youtube all over it. saying that it says you get $ for posting videos and adbrite and has custom players

 

Pay for porn? I own adult video sites, megarotic provides huge exposure to videos you upload, thus paying for the privilege of a) the traffic from the video, b) hosting content on their servers saving me bandwidth.
Wow, did you even read them estimates, firstly where are all these preroll ads on youtube, the assumption in the first link is if there were, he admits "I realize these are unsubstantiated assumptions". When did you last see one?
And what the hell, the second link thinks 100 million video views means 100million pageviews, does he not realize so many of there video views come from being embedded on other sites, and these are your proof?

Don't think the masses of people who don't use there computer as often know about MegaVideo's as much as Youtube with all of its exposure to the greneral public.
