Medical site, suggest a name!

    Hello,

I've been planning to start a medical site, results of my keen interest in medicine and my area of study. But, I've been facing this difficulty in choosing the right domain name for the medical site. It would have news, medical updates, discussion forums and suggest me more. Names like medscape.com and pubmed.com have always interested me. Unfortunately I couldn't come out with a nice and attractive name.

    1. Suggest me a domain name which is catchy and SE friendly.
    2. Suggest me what you'd look for in it, and ways to make it more palatable for users.

and just anything which you think would be fruitful. Thanks!

    Regards,
    MaxCage

If your site will have specific focus, keep in mind that the right domain name has benefit for rankings i.e. if your site is about "breast cancer" a domain name like aboutbreatcancer dot info will gain some benefit over a site named pubmed - which is generic and not a searched for keyword. There is a keyword suggestion tool on Digital Point that will show you exact terms people are searching for to perhaps give you an idea on a domain name. If you want a generic sounding name and aren't worried about the benefit from having a keyword in your domain, you might want to experiment with many of the name spinner tools, like http://www.whois.sc/

Also keep in mind that you can have infringement problems if you use a taken domain name with another extension - i.e. if pubmed dot com is a non-generic tradename being used, don't register pubmed.net just because it is available -even adding to a tradename can get you into trouble, pubmedadvice dot com or microsoftsupportforums, etc.

    Hello, mjewel.
Thanks for the valuable piece of advice and the time.

Well, I'd say the specific focus would be on Medicine, ranging from Anatomy to Cardiology(lets say everything under 'the medical sun'. Well, it might be more of the generic type than the specific. Because, I wouldn't want to name my site anatomyideas.com and have something like "latest beta-blocker in the market". So, I'd choose a generic name.

Thanks for that, I wouldn't do it voluntarily, but I'd search and make sure nothing of that sort is already taken/unavailable.

    Thank you.

There are 605 medical domains which expired or are expiring this month. Check them first, you can click Here to find it.

If you think they are all not suitable, you can chose your mypubmed.com.

I use domain suggestions from various services, even yahoo.
I never buy form them, just fool around looking for a domain.
Just went to yahoo and found the following dot coms:
    yourmedpro
    themedpro

I notice medicalbonk dot com is still up for grabs.
Bonk is a popular add on used by many.

I see greatmedicalinfo dot com is up to.

Just play around with the names and check to see if they
are taken. Then check out the many suggestions.

Here are more dot coms available:

    EasyHealthInfo
    SuperMedicalInfo

Course some scripts (not yahoo) will auto-take the domains you
search for if you don't buy.
