&^^% &^&%^!!! I just had a heart attack, thought I got phished! I signed up for the eBay program and when I got the Welcome email through I clicked through to www.cj.com, but only after logging in realised the link I had clicked was something like http://altfarm.mediaplex.com/ad/ck/xxx-xxx-xx-xx. After a total panic, changing my passwords, mailing CJ and eBay, I discover that no harm seems to have been done, and reading the forums discover that Mediaplex seems to be some company that eBay routes their links through!! Is this true? If so, what kind of idiots are they, teaching affiliates and customers to beware of phishing and then creating false alarms like this?! ^*^*&^*((!!!!
.... its called a tracking link :| So they can track the clikcs they get and who they come from. Why wouldnt u just lik it again and see if its secure :| if its not then LOL @ U. If it is secure then :O no heart atak :|
How do I know if it's secure just by clicking it again? I'm not an expert on security, all I know is that there is something funny with the link and I don't WANT to click it again if I think it is phishing, do I?! I think it is irresponsible for them to obfuscate their links in this way: www.cj.com, it resembles classic phishing, don't you think?! Plus, the email was full of mistakes! E.g. and a whole section of text repeated. I don't know, it seems incompetent at the very least...
Ha, I just received this email from eBay, in response to my sending them their OWN email, at least I assume it was. So now, is it a spoof or isn't it?! See my confusion!?
