Mediapartners-Google and Googlebot

    I sometimes get requests with an agent Googlebot and sometimes it is Mediapartners-Google!!
    What is the difference between the two? Are they both from Google?

    Mediapartners-Google is for Adsense whilst the regular Googlebot is for search.

    It examines the page to see what ads would be best suited for that content.

    Adsense also uses Googlebot to get preliminary data but mediapartners is the official bot.

    If you put up a brand new page with adsense on it, you will notice a visit from googlebot within the hour. That info appears to go to adsense and just adds the page on the stack for a regular index.
