check the post, she said that WMP is GIMPY since she tried version 11....she can't even get 10 to install correctly now

    :)

maybe you meant uninstall 10 and then reinstall

    WMP 6.4 owns anyway!!!

Well, system restore didn't improve my Media Player 10 at all! I can't uninstall it either....I tried that already.

When I try to open Media Player 10 I get the message that it can't open because of an "internal error"!!!! How am I supposed to fix and internal error if I can't even open the program?

I agree with timsdd that this is asinine!

Let me know if anyone has any ideas. I'm considering trying to reinstall the original Media Player (I think it's 9) that is on my Windows XP disc. Then I would need to upgrade. What do you guys think?

Are you still having that problem?

Well then, just uninstall Windows media player completely from the Uninstall Windows Component in Add Remove Program in CP. Then re-install it. It should solve the problem... :)

 no no no, format your hard drive and reinstall windows :p :p

I'd just ditch WMP for Winamp or was that already discussed as not being a road you wanted to go down?

seems like bnts has the right track...try and rid it completely and then do a fresh install

Fresh windows installation does magic - i always do this every few months (6 usually) and i don't choose the date - Windows just start going nuts in that time frame :D

I am having the same problem. MAtter of fact, I believe this has happened everytime I have *ever* tried to d/l anything from microsoft >.<

This is utterly redundant...I tried to re-install off my XP disk, that didn't work either...
I really do not feel like having to reformat my drive again...Anyone else have any better ideas? lol

I've never had this problem before with MS downloads. I can't find how to uninstall MediaPlayer 10. You can't do it in add and remove programs and there is no uninstall file that I can find. grrrrr.........

yes that is much better just download it instead of doing a system restore, you might lose something on the system restore

Well, now the problem is different. Media Player 11 is on the computer but I can't use it because it says, "I don't have a genuine version of XP". My version came with my Dell computer when I bought it and I've never had a problem like this. In fact, before I downloaded 11, I had to validate my version of XP. This is ridiculous!!!

geez, from bad to worse! I love how genuine owners of the SW get genuinely screwed

Thanks for supporting my anger and frustration! I guess now I'll try to reinstall the original off my xp cd. It will be version 9 and then try to upgrade to 10 and then to 11.

It's not like I don't have anything else to do!

    need my opinion really ?

forget about WMP at all and get another solution

i use Jet Audio it is paid one but has it all in one with awesome sound effects with video player and audio/video converter

    highly recommended

Ver 6 is the current latest one and ver 7 is expected within a month or something

    just my 2 cents

if you still need WMP 11, reinstall windows xp then download WMP11 offline install then install it

should work fine at your end

I haven't worked on my Media Player problem again.....needed a break from it. Anyway, I've been getting a LOT of spam in my email as a result of my post here about Media Player. (all of the spam is in references to my having problems with Media Player) Has this happened to anyone else when you post at DP?
