I have been trying unsuccessfully to install Media Player 11 on my PC. Has anyone else had a problem with this? I had Media Player 10 but in the process of trying to upgrade to 11, it somehow removed 10 from my computer. What a mess!!! I'd appreciate any ideas anyone might have that will help. Thanks.
Maybe he is having some other problem Microsoft has infact introduced this validation check in many of their softwares... Bad news for those who uses Pirated XPs... Mine is XP Home Edition that comes preinstalled when I bought my Laptop..so no worries
First, Ozzie is a she. No this isn't a validation problem. MS validates my Windows XP just fine. After I go through all the steps and wait while it downloads, I receive an error message that says: Media Player 11 couldn't be installed. Error Message code COOD2AFB. When I look that code up it says: no additional information available. grrrr.............
Well, you didn't introduce yourself in the beginning Ok, why not downloading offline installer ? i mean don't install it directly online but download the installation file then install on your PC sorry can't give you a link now since it seems like i've a prob with DNS and DP is the only site that is working for me - lol If no one helps with a link i'll link you with the file when i've access to the internet (makes me look like a fool writing this - huh ? ) Edit: my connection is now fixed and here is the link for offline installer http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/download/download.aspx
I installed 11 but did not like the controls @ all so I went back to 10. I did not find any answers either but you're not the only one: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=49140
I didn't think you were a fool at all. Thanks for the link. After reading the information on the previous post, I don't know if I want 10 back or 11. Right now I don't have either thanks to the problems I've had.
I read all the information at the link you provided, including the link it provided. lol. Maybe I will try to re-install Media Player 10 instead of getting 11. Thanks for the reply and your help.
My son likes 11 better too. Well, I've been trying all evening and I can't get either 10 or 11 to install on my pc. I don't know why. I had 10 on it till I tried to install 11.
Me too.. In looks, it look just the way I like. I even install a Media Player 11 Windows XP theme and am still using it right now... but it is a little bit slower in loading and response... Just try it once by installing WP 11. If you find that it not fast or whatever, you can always rollback to your original WP10
I'd rather have functionality over looks any day of the week!! for instance, I could not find for the life of me a function with 11 that would allow you to playback @ speeds of 1.4 and 2X's it had for the only options: fast, normal, slow....well thanks!! I use 1.4 & 2X playback speeds all the time while listening to my Cowboys radio broadcast...(the podcasts of them). 1.4 for Bill Parcell's press conferences and 2X for all the other shows
I use Jetaudio as multimedia player which has everything integrated and up to 200% playback speed as well
Thanks for the off line installation link... I have been looking for that for a while. Edit: Also, from what I saw, WMP 11 was made for folks with "Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 or greater". I saw this in the install guide.
The offline link didn't work for me. I have found that Media Player 10 is still on my computer but it just won't work since I tried to install 11. I've tried everything. Will it cause Media Player 10 to go back to it's working condition if I use system restore?
I think that would be ok since I only need to go back about 2 weeks. Thank you so much for your speedy reply!
How about downloading WMP 10 and installing it instead of using system restore ? anyways, all WMP versions Here Google is your friend
