Well I was trying to find out why one of my sites, which is all text articles, wasn't ranking so well - specifically one of the pages that I had built links for. I do a little investigating and see that a few sites have paraphrased some of what I've written, which is fine. But then I come across this page that has literally copied almost entire paragraphs from the article making small changes wherever necessary. The site seems to be an informational site about the legal system and lawyers.. BUT the funniest part of all is that this site turns out be the official State Bar for the entire State of Wyoming. On one hand I'm quite flattered that a whole state decided that my article was written well enough to be copied, on the other hand an entire state's worth of lawyers at disposable and they didn't realize that copyright infringement is a somewhat of a legal quagmire. I can't mention the finer details just yet, at least not until I decide what to do. I think I'm going to ask them for a good old backlink..they're sporting a nice PR 6 on the front page. Any other suggestions ..lol
thanks for reading, I don't think they'd actually give me the backlink. I looked at their page and couldn't find any partner links or anything. I'd love to have a sitewide link on their site (especially for free). I'm sure if I alert them they'll probably just remove it, just wondering how I should approach this.
If they remove it then let them... give them a choice to quote you or remove... inform them that you'd rather they quoted your work, but if not then ask them for removal.. ^_^
