Hi, I know Google class .me domain names as a Top Level Domain (TLD). I also know obviously the .org is a TLD too. So Google should treat these domains the same, right? The problem is I have a .org and a .me website each with good quality content. The .me is a shorter domain name with exact match keywords in the domain name. The .org is has keywords in the domain but has more characters in the domain name. I have no back links on either websites. The .org receives about 300 impressions per day and 1 click a week. The .me domain name receives 1 impression a week and no clicks ever. This would suggest that .me is not worth trying to get back links to and not worth pursuing as a website. Do you have any idea how I can get the .me ranking or should I bin the website and concentrate on the .org? Thanks, Matt.
All else being equal, yes they should be the same! Here are some possibilities though: 1) broken links - some people may assume the URL when they link to a site - if the domain is not short and memorable, it is more likely that they will make assumptions about the TLD while concentrating on remembering the main part of the domain name 2) Registering a new domain creates a new domain record with no history, but if you bought a pre-existing domain you're essentially buying that domain's history..
