F.A.Q.s about .Me Domain Names July 17th, 2008 Here are answers to your questions about the .me “landrushâ€. http://domainnamewire.com/2008/07/17/faqs-about-me-domain-names
I'm actually very happy with my .me purchases today. I didn't buy some frivilous domains, I bought locale specific domains. Also, the .cc, .ws, .mobi and .name were useless to begin with. At least .info has a "readability" to it as do the .me domains. As far as a "land rush" or "gold rush" are concerned, those who speculated WISELY in those times became wealthy beyond their dreams. If you read my blog article from today, you'll see I recommended people to purchase "locale specific" domains as those always premium in every "land rush"
Just registered: demon.me highschool.me annual.me clemson.me hopefully there will be value there over time.
Waste of money.... you'd have probably done better if you registered boo ???? f--- you ... Chase Utley YO !!!!
I registered ani.me during the landrush.. I am invited to the auction. But chances are I will be blown out of the water after the first bid I got that same email on the 11 June, one of the domains (that was available) was suddenly already registered. I check the whois today, and the domain got transfered in to somebody's name today.. the domain in question should have gone to auction, because the name is not a trademarked.. LOL.. yea LA.ME would have been a good one.. As for the others.. well.. may turn out to be a good investment for someone.. I got a couple too. (not as good as LA.ME though.) commented on your blog about them.. Dunno if they will ever be worth much.. but who knows. That's a bit of a bold statement! Who are you, the oracle of domaining? When it comes to domain valuation, everyone knows a domain's value is purely what someone is prepared to pay for it. So it comes down to opinion. If someone has a three letter verb on the .me extension then I personally would say that's an awesome domain to have and will probably be worth thousands. It's not only a one word domain but it's a phrase - it's all about branding. Branding is what businesses do with their business names so that people take notice of their name, remember their name, etc. Likewise, when it comes to websites it's what website owners do with their domain names. Having a one-word verb as a .me domain is about as good as it gets in terms of domain brandability, as long as it makes sense of course. As for the people saying "I've got these great names" then listing a bunch of random nouns and keywords on the .me extension, those kinds of domains will only be worth anything if you are using them for SEO purposes, i.e. to use the keywords to build up traffic primarily through search engines. Branding-wise I would say it's pointless getting a noun on the .me extension, but that's just my opinion. And my last point - about the .me domains going to auction - if there genuinly isn't a way of registrars determining who tried to register a domain first, then putting the domain to auction IS the fairest solution. Then again, shouldn't the registrars have good enough servers, databases, etc etc to be able to do just that?? There's also that bit of paranoia in me (and I dare say a lot of others) that says maybe it's corrupt - they wait and see if a certain number of people try to register a certain domain, then if they do, they cancel the registrations and auction it to make more money out of them. I guess we'll never know the truth but one thing is for certain - when you register (and pay for) a domain then over an hour later you get an email saying you didn't register it after all, it's quite annoying!!!
Just my first impression on the article there. I dont totally condemn .me, but just a bit wary this time around. The article is nothing but a rant for now lol I am going to put forward various perspectives from people soon on there. Some very interesting observations from people regarding the .me extension. I currently have just two which i did keep. Still in the grace period though. They are Shine.me and Dover.me
I have 6 domains i'd like to register at the moment. None of them are single words, all of them have 2 words and are like this format product names almost: e.g. seoguide.me, appartmentrental.me, englishroses.me Is it worth registering them or not? This would be a big investment for me. also anyone got any godaddy promo codes for orders of $300+? thanks
Powelly, It tried a bunch of codes yesterday on Godaddy without any luck. I think my final price was $39.98 and I'm not sure if their domain name club (or whatever they call it) gave me a discount. Check the other pages of this thread, someone was saying that namecheap or someone was offering a good price and free private registrations.
Just spent a bomb and think i went overdrawn in my bank account so thats gonna cost me a further $60 :\ Got these: LINKDIRECTORY.ME WEEDSEEDS.ME MARIJUANASEEDS.ME HOLIDAYHOME.ME
