I wonder if the huge increase in site wide links from the two sites could be causing some kind of problem.

If it was competition it would show up in Caryl Keyword Analysis Tool wouldn't it? However if Google has learned to count and keep things straight -- and there is some indication of an improvement in this ability lately -- then the drop in allinanchor could be explained as a result of aggressive competition.

Wow, the page is dropping like a brick now. I noticed Foxy's web hosting page has a lot of supplemental results which has the sleeping bags link in the footer of most pages. Not sure if that would really have anything to do with it, but I'm thinking those links might be devalued at this point.

Have you considered pointing any co-op weight to the page considering Shawn has now implemented a hybrid format of static/dynamic links?

Hi Infiniterb,

The only major change is the supporters links jumping from 631 on 7/29/2005 to 15,785 some ten to 15 days later!!! The links nearly tripled in two weeks.

I don't think the problem is too few links. If the problem is on this end (instead of Google just messing around with things) I can't help but believe that the a addition of 13,500+ links coming from one site might have upset the apple cart.

Anybody else have any ideas?

Maybe we should ask Foxy to remove the links from that one site or change it to having only one link from that site.

I do use the coop and I am not sure at the moment wheather it's a positive or negative.

Well.......on that day I went and rechecked time after time to see, and, the end result was a decrease to normal....ish!

Anyhow, it was not the huge number......so.....the question is .... did the impact of a false/perfucked google number cause the abberation?

That is a good factor for why it comes top.

Please explain further, I do not understand your statement - "Dont be distracted..."

Also - Just because 'sleeping bags' has 2,910,000 results does NOT mean there are that many competing for the keyword.

If you search Google for 'the' the results returned are 3,230,000,000! I would not think anyone is actually optimizing for that keyword.

Allinanchor results are a better indicator of competition. The more closely aligned allinanchor rankings are to the regular result rankings would indicate the competitiveness of the keyword.
