    It was through this thread that I came across Digital Point and it kept drawing me back. Then i started reading other threads and realised what a mine of information there is here.

    I guess it would be safe to say that, if this thread could be summarized into one post, it would not have over 2007 posts and over 47,625 views.

    If you are not serious about search engine optimization then it is probably not worth your time. BUT, if you are, the "journey" through the thread will offer you a basic understanding of the day to day issues that confront us all.

    You will see that we continue to have more questions than answers. The insight gained will perhaps show the importance of never jumping to conclusions, that simple cause and effect results do not apply and Patience is an essential requirement.

    Some folks have even read through this thread more than once!

    After 13 days, Google FINALLY updated the cache of the page from...

    May 12, 2005 16:55:46 GMT (13 days at this cached version)

    to

    June 14, 2005 07:08:28 GMT


    ALSO, once again, as the old cached page lingered day after day, the position steadily slipped from #2 to #9. Once Google updated the cache, the page went from #9 to #6 immediately.

    It is hard to tell, at this point, whether "Bourbon" has had an effect on this page at all or whether it's decline has been just due to Googles caching.

    BTW - the Backlink Update that started on May 24th still (now June 15th) only reflects 9 Datacenters showing the new Backlink total for this page.

    Have you submitted a sitemap into Google for this domain yet? I'd be interested to see if cache dates update on a more frequent basis because of this depending on the parameters you set in the sitemap (ie. changefreq; priority).

    Actually, Google usually updates the cache of this page daily - until it goes into it's amnesia mode.

    I have a very new site up that I have submitted to Google Sitemaps and I am not very pleased with the results as of yet.

    The sitemap has been accepted and uploaded however, Google has yet to update the title changes that have been up for over a week now. I have the change frequency set to "daily" but no sign of the Googlebots yet.

    Until I see evidence that this sitemap feature yields some advantage, I will not spend valuable time making Googles job easier and my life more difficult.
