    So prove them wrong.

    What strengths?

It's funny as hell that the people you are trying to defend don't even believe in what you're saying. Hence the media-force-field they have tried to keep around her.

Dude they elected a friggin NOBODY 60 days before she is to become the vice president of the United States at a critical time in our history. And you expect us to give her a pass???

What I was pointing out is that as usual, the party that incessantly pats themself on the back as being intellectually superior isnt, nor are they intellectually honest. If someone that has spent 36 years in Congress and doesnt know Roosevelt wasnt the President when the market crashed or thinks he got his message out is an intellectual, we've really lowered the bar. The fact that he made the gaffe while criticizing others for not learning the lesson of history only makes it sadder.

The fact that they deride Palin for every sin real or imagined as proof the ticket is a failure while assuming Biden can make all the mistakes he wants is hypocrisy in the extreme. [Thought you'd appreciate that word since you just used it elsewhere.]

George - The "friggin nobody" is the Governor of a state. Would she be brighter if she ran a "Knight Rider" website? Drop the stones, she has you beat in a fair fight.

He could have chosen Romney, Gulianni, Liebermann... the list goes on. Instead he chose the low road. But hey.... Country first!

You want to talk about intellectual honesty? Answer this honestly. Do you think that if Palin were a MAN with those qualifications he would have chosen her?

    Yeah.... thought not....

    LOL. stfu? Really?

    BIOYAJ. ;)

The question of whether the GOP would nominate a young governor for VP if she werent female is only pertinent if you also feel it is appropriate to ask if the DNC would be running a junior Senator with no foreign policy cred for Commander in Chief if he weren't black. Again... one question begs the other... intellectual honesty...either both questions are relevant or neither is.

It takes quite a bit of integrity to put your country first. Seems that's always been John McCain.

Some day, if Obama ever learns to do his job, we might see great things from him as well. I'm not holding my breath on that one however.

No, just answer the question. Really.

    Can you? ;)

I believe the term grasping at straws applies here.

I don't think it would have made much difference. What if he had chosen a Black Man?

Again, does it really make a difference?

That's not a yes or no answer now is it. Are you a politician? :D

Let me show you how to answer a question.

Yes. It does matter because it was a political ploy. That has been the point of this discussion. Trying to get Mr. Rob to admit that.

Yes. It does matter because he got a boost in the polls and it wasn't because the country was overwhelmed by her experience and leadership. She's had a media shield surrounding her. No one even knew who she was 2 months ago and now she's 40 days away from potentially becoming the Vice President of the United States.

You see there is no question as to whetehr it would make a difference. It did. It's wearing off now because thankfully the American people are waking up. But it did -- in fact -- make a difference.

Would you like to try and answer the question again? DO you really think he would have chosen a man (ANY man black white red green whatever) with those qualifications? Or do you think he chose her because she is a woman?

There, nice and concise for ya.

So you're saying running someone with a young political career to become the first woman VP is a political ploy... but running a man with a young political career to become the first black President is not. OK. Nice to see you have no grasp on reality. The answer is that both were to a certain extent political ploys. Demographics are part of winning elections, and you cant use the tactic AND complain about it. I'd rather have a rookie VP than a rookie Commander in Chief. Go figure.

Outta curiousity, why is a young governor of Alaska with no foreign policy experience a problem as VP... but there were no similar reservations about a young governor of Arkansas with no foreign policy experience running for President. Do you guys erase your memory after each election? You kinda seem to have selective memory.

It's hard to take you seriously when you make comments like that after not being able to answer a simple yes or no question I've asked what 3 times now?

    Here ya go:

You see, if you answer that question honestly. Then ask yourself "ok well why did he choose her then?".

That will answer all of your questions.

The difference is that Obama was *elected* in the Democratic primaries. After months...and months...and months...of campaigning, Obama was essentially chosen by the people as the Democrats' nominee. Palin, on the other hand, seems to be a carefully calculated political ploy by a handful of Republicans. Now, I know that because of delegates in the primaries, the nominee is not fully a choice of the people. However, Democrats still had much greater influence in Obama's nomination than the Republicans had with Palin.

Damien - I dont think spreading the blame changes it tho. :)

As far as I've seen every VP since about the dawn of whatever was picked to shore up either a geographic or political area the top of the ticket think they need help in. Johnson was there to help Kennedy get Texas, Quayle was there to help George Sr get morons, Biden was selected because he has foreign policy creds and Obama knew everyone including Biden says he didnt. If the votes of the people had a lot to do with a VP pick... Obama would be running with Hillary as VP, not Biden. Hillary had what... 18 million people that wanted her up there?

If you're saying Palin was a ploy because she strengthened McCains link with a couple of demographic groups he wasnt strong in... including women, conservative christians, pro-lifers, gun rights types, etc... I'd say it is true. I dont think she was picked solely because she is female, but it does help him with one more demographic group and that had to be a factor.

She and Obama both have a "first" drawcard... he might be the first black Pres, she might be the first woman VP. Welcome to America. It aint perfect, but always entertaining.

Rob - I was just trying to point out that the choice of Obama vs. Palin is not an apples to apples comparison as you were making it out to be. I don't think Obama's nomination can be considered a political ploy based on his race, because he was elected by the majority of Democratic voters. Not a ploy, per se, they just thought he was the best candidate after extensive debates with the other potentials.

I do see the choice of Palin as a ploy because there is only one weak area of McCain that she could possible bolster; that being the pro-life stance. Other than that, she brings no experience to the table to strengthen McCain where he is considered weak - like the economy. So, I do think she was chosen *primarily* because she was female, in an attempt to sway pissed off Hillary backers to the Republican ticket.

You're asking a pointed question designed to generate a desired response.

Let me show you how to ask a question.

    Are you a happy?

    Yes or No

Don't you think you should be happy today because I am?

Not a Yes or No question.

Obama picked Biden because he was old and gray, and supposedly experienced. Don't you think that was a political ploy?

You confuse a conscious decision based on more factors than any of us knows as being nothing more than a calculated attempt at drawing a particular voter based on sex and youth.

I'd buy that bull shit if she were not educated, intelligent, and extremely experienced. More so than the first Half African American Harvard Law Review dude.

So. Everyone generally sees a boost in the Polls after making that decision. If there was an extra boost because she is a she, so what. I think as people have gotten to know her, they are overwhelmed by not just her leadership and experience, but the fact that she juggled all that along with 5 kids! Friggin amazing.

What the hell is the matter with you? Did your mommy not hug you enough? No one knew who the hell Barracky was either. Hell, most of us still do not know. He does not even have a valid US birth certificate.

I've yet to see any signs of it slowing down. The more Palin talks, the more interested people become. The more Biden talks, the more people wish Barracks wife would open her fat ass pie hole again.

I don't know. I'm not John McCain, nor am or was I ever a part of his VP search team.

I do think you are sexist though.

Yep, the same scarred little man that spent his formative years in the Hanoi Hilton. What are you, 12? They do still teach history in grade school right?
