mcar2185's Clickbank Beginner Journal

As the title indicates, I'm a newbie to Affiliate Marketing. After hearing all of the success stories, and burning myself out trying to make a decent income as a writer, I've decided to give AM a start. My main motivation is making a good enough income to move out of the neighborhood I currently live in. It's gone way downhill and, with how the housing market is, now is the time to move.

So I've figured I need to aim for at least $3,000 a month from Affiliate Marketing. My real goal, though, is to make between $200-$300 per day from it. I know this will take a lot of time, but I have a strategy: I'll open up 10 different niche sites, and promote a product on each. I'll promote products with commissions of at least $20, and I'll aim for 1 sale per day on each site, so 10 sales a day. Again, this will take time, but that's where I'm aiming.

I plan on using bum/article marketing and on only opening 5 sites at first, and then opening up the other 5. This will keep costs down.

I'll be writing all the articles on my own, doing all the web design etc. I plan on spending 1-2 hours per day on it, and continuing to work part-time with freelance writing so that I have a back-up source of income.

I don't know what my niches will be yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to target the gas saving niche. I registered a great domain name for this niche and am going to start building the site right away.

I'll obviously be using ClickBank for my products, and already have one product picked out to promote.

I plan on submitting a couple articles per day to Ezine as a way of getting traffic. I also want to put some articles on my web site(s) to help draw even more visitors.

So this will be my journal. I'll try to update it daily with my progress, and hopefully within a month, I'll have made at least a few sales. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to tell me as I'm very new to this and looking to learn as much as possible.

Sounds great and I'm sure we can't wait to follow your journal. If you can, try to get even more articles submitted per day. I try to shoot for at least 5 and more if I can. For example, I have 11 waiting to be accepted right now.

Good luck with this mcar2185. Journals are always interesting to read.

In my humble opinion, as a newbie, I think you should pick one niche to start out with and learn the ins and outs of promoting one niche/product. 10 sites at once as a newbie and only 1 -2 hours per days on them if you're not doing ppc and doing the grunt work yourself will be a slow road to see sales from.

Pick something you think you can at least keep your enthusiasm up about to keep writing articles over the long term (doesn't have to be something you're passionate about but it helps) then develop your site and learn to link build, seo etc to add to your skill set.

Its good you're focusing on a popular niche :) Sell what sells.

Great advice, beginners and also seasoned marketers always focus on a single product at a time to have a chance of success. It's silly to think that a person can handle different markets at once, noone does it simply because its too much - especially for newbies. Its better to pick a market, learn it inside out and dominate it, then move on other markets.

Use the sniper not the shotgun,,good luck :)

Thanks for the advice! So I think I'll stick with my current product for now, and look to promote another product pretty soon. But I was going to ask you guys, how do you create a landing page? I know, it's a silly question, but I want to start off doing things the right way and hopefully get some quick sales.

First of all, wish you all the best in your new way to success and I hope that you will be making enough money to move out of your neighborhood very soon.

If you are interesting in the run your car on water niche, just go over the products from CB market place, see which one you like the most, search the market for it, the places where your competitors are promoting this particularly product and then start going after them. You are a newbie, so I would also recommend you to pick one product from this niche and spend some quality time on it

You are a writer, so I don't have to tell you about article marketing. By the way don't just link articles to your website, you can also link some squidoo, hubpages, blog and bizsheet to it too.Remember to bookmark everything. More backlinks, more traffic, more money. But you need to get some targeted traffic.

If you do not know what is a bizsheet or don't know why it's a good idea to create one, click my second sig. You will learn a lot about it. Here is a free keyword tool that you can use http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/

Once again, I wish you all the best mate.

Well, see, that's what I'm torn about. Do I promote cheaper products or those that cost $97? I'm looking at it from purely a consumer standpoint. I know I won't spend $97 without thinking, but I don't mind $39. Do $90+ products sell as well as cheaper ones?

In my view point, $29.95 pricing sound nice, it's not too cheap and not too expensive.

    Mcar, do this...

Me and Nadav have set up a challenge in the Forex Niche, to get to $1000. I am already halfway there, and looking to raise the bar to $10,000 very soon!

Find another Newbie IM'er or find someone who is struggling, and both of you find a niche, where the both of you know to a decent degree. Write articles, and pick consistent products with a low refund rate and an awesome publisher that has great creatives.

Check out mega publishers, such as platinum partners or ncmedia.com, because the creatives are always over par and are great for the graphically challenged and help kickstart an awesome IM campaign.

    My two cents....

I'm a newbie too, but from the little sales I've made I found cheaper products sell better (less than $30)

i don't think you should only do 1 product at a time... the more the better right?

but you have to aware of is that 5 products at a time will take up 5 times the effort. Around 2 hours per day seems pretty low if you're just starring out and want to target that many niches..

Like mentioned before aim to write 5 articles per day per product.. I'm currently at 3 and it's not easy... I have to work on my IM biz and other work to be able to pay my bills...

good luck mate.. and keep those articles coming.

You've all raised good points, and I've decided to focus on only 2 or 3 products at once, tops. I already have the first one picked out, and I'm working on picking out two others and registering domain names for those.

    Blog Entry for June 24:

So I didn't get anything done with my Affiliate marketing yesterday. Today my goal is to submit two articles to Ezine promoting my top product and to also set up a blog web site with a review of said product. I'll be directing Ezine readers to that review and then promoting the product there. I also have a ton of writing work to do, so it'll be a little challenging to make time for AM, but hopefully I can. :)

I would really like to make my first sale within the next week or two, but I know that's a really optimistic goal, so it might not happen.
